Summer fun at Discovery Island Water Park

Come enjoy a fun-filled day at Discovery Island Water Park in Simpsonville, South Carolina. The water park is located at 417 Baldwin Road, in Southside Park. The park is between Simpsonville and Mauldin. It is owned and operated by the Greenville County Recreation District. Discovery Island Water Park is one of three area-owned water parks. The others are Otter Creek in Northside Park, 101 W Darby Road, and 7th Inning Splash Water Park in Lakeside Park, 1500 Piedmont Hwy. Otter Creek and 7th Inning Splash are both new this season. Greenville Recreation also owns the Westside Aquatic Center, 2700 W Blue Ridge Drive, which includes an indoor pool.

Discovery Island Water Park has two water slides. The big yellow slide is a body slide and the big blue slide is a tubular slide. Both slides end in the leisure pool. There is also a lazy river to float on. The park’s newest addition is the FlowRider, a surfing simulator. More daring guests can go kite surfing, kite surfing and stand up paddle boarding. FlowRider tutorials are available. Group swimming lessons are also available at three ability levels. Other amenities at the water park include a children’s play structure, sundeck, concessions, and cabanas for rent. No outside food or drink is allowed, but the franchise cafĂ© sells pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, corn, smoothies, ice cream, and drinks.

The park has sixteen certified life guards at all times, as well as staff to help with the tubes. All employees are CPR and AED certified. Business hours are Monday to Saturday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday 1:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Prices are based on height, and there are height restrictions on slides and FlowRider. Day passes and season passes are available. Group rates are available for groups of 25 or more with reservations. Appropriate swimwear is required.

Birthday parties and FlowRider parties are popular at Discovery Island Water Park. They are available by reservation. Birthday parties, held at the park’s Coconut Cottages, include pizza, cake, drinks, paper goods, and a personal party host or hostess.

Simpsonville is located in the rolling hills of northwestern South Carolina, just twelve miles south of Greenville. Renovations in the Town Square area gave downtown Simpsonville a village feel. Many new shops and restaurants have been attracted to the area. Simpsonville is consistently ranked as one of the best places to live and work in South Carolina.
